# Change Your Contract Plan

> Source: https://docs.lorel.ai/en/specifications/billing-plan-changes/

You can request a change to your contract plan (Starter / Standard) or contract type (monthly / annual) from the billing management screen.

> For organizations billed through AWS Marketplace
>
> Lorel.ai has no screen for changing plans in an organization that subscribes through AWS Marketplace. The only plan offered through AWS Marketplace is the Standard plan on a monthly contract. For details, see [Subscribing Through AWS Marketplace](/en/specifications/billing-aws-marketplace/).

## 1. Basic Specifications for Plan Changes

| Item | Content |
| --- | --- |
| Eligible plans | Clicking "Change plan" from "Subscription status" in billing management shows every plan, including your current plan. Select the different plan or contract type (monthly/annual) you want to switch to, and submit the change request. |
| When it takes effect | When a plan change takes effect depends automatically on the contract cycle you are changing from. An upgrade from Starter (monthly) has no application deadline at all — it takes effect immediately, at the moment you apply. A change from a Standard monthly contract takes effect on the 1st of the following month, provided it is completed by the application deadline. A change from a Standard annual contract, likewise provided it is completed by the application deadline, takes effect on the 1st of the month after your current 12-month commitment ends — this can be anywhere from about 1 month to as much as 12 months after you apply (in that case, the screen shows the concrete effective month rather than saying "next month"). The application deadline here is the same deadline as the "Cancellation deadline" in [Cancel Renewal](/en/specifications/billing-cancellation/). |
| Agreement to the terms | A plan change ends your current plan's terms and starts the new plan's terms (this is not the same as terminating your organization's contract), so you must agree to the latest Terms of Service and Personal Information Handling. |

## 2. Restrictions

| Item | Content |
| --- | --- |
| Resource limit check (restriction when downgrading) | You cannot submit the request if your current usage exceeds the new plan's limits (such as the number of users or projects). You must reduce your usage to within the limit beforehand. (Usage counts include pending, unanswered invitations.) |
| Notes on the annual contract (12-month commitment) | Changing to an annual plan starts a new 12-month contract commitment. Billing is monthly, and you cannot terminate the contract itself mid-term during the commitment period. You can still submit another plan change request during the commitment — it just will not take effect until the commitment ends (see "When it takes effect" above). |
| Withdrawing your request | For a change starting from a Standard monthly contract, you can withdraw your request at any time before the new plan takes effect. A change from Starter takes effect as soon as you submit it, so it cannot be withdrawn. For a change starting from an annual contract, you must withdraw by the renewal-cancellation deadline — withdrawal is not possible after that deadline. |
| Relationship with cancellation (renewal cancellation) | You cannot cancel renewal while a plan change request is pending. (To cancel, you must withdraw the plan change request first.) Likewise, you cannot request a plan change while renewal is canceled (undo the cancellation to request one). |

*Upgrading to Enterprise, and changes from an Enterprise plan, cannot be handled on this screen. Please contact us via the dedicated contact form ([https://www.jig-saw.com/service/lorelai/contact/](https://www.jig-saw.com/service/lorelai/contact/)) instead.
