Subscribing Through AWS Marketplace
Last updated: 2026-10-28
This page explains how this differs from subscribing directly, how registration works, billing and payments, checking usage, the initial free credit, and what happens after you cancel, for organizations that subscribe through AWS Marketplace.
Overview
You can also subscribe to Lorel.ai through AWS Marketplace. For an organization that subscribes through AWS Marketplace, AWS handles billing and payment, and Lorel.ai does not issue invoices or charge a card. Your usage charges are included in the bill of the AWS account you used to subscribe (this page calls it the “subscription AWS account”). Invoice timing, currency, taxes, when a cancellation takes effect, and refunds are governed by AWS Marketplace rules. On this page, a contract with Lorel.ai paid by credit card or bank transfer is called a “direct contract.”
The only plan available through AWS Marketplace is the Standard plan on a monthly contract. The Starter plan, annual contracts, and the Enterprise plan are not offered through AWS Marketplace. Pricing follows the prices shown on the Lorel.ai product page on AWS Marketplace. There are four billing items: the base fee, AI Agent executions, data ingestion, and data storage.
1. How This Differs from a Direct Contract
An organization that subscribes through AWS Marketplace differs from a direct-contract organization in the following ways.
| Item | Direct contract | Through AWS Marketplace |
|---|---|---|
| Available plans | Starter, Standard, and Enterprise. Standard can also be an annual contract. | Standard on a monthly contract only |
| Billing and payment | Lorel.ai bills you. You pay by card or bank transfer. | AWS bills you. Charges are included in the bill of the subscription AWS account. |
| List of invoices | View and download them from “Invoice History” on screen. | Not shown on screen. AWS issues the invoices, and you check them in the AWS Billing console. |
| Amounts of money | You can see usage and amounts (base fee, usage charges, deductions, estimated cost). | Only usage is shown. Amounts are not shown. |
| Billing information and payment method | View and change them in billing management. | Not handled in Lorel.ai. |
| Cost alerts | You receive an email when additional usage charges exceed the threshold you set. | Not available. You can set up AWS budget alerts in the AWS Billing console. |
| Initial free credit | Granted as a monetary amount and does not expire. | Granted as a quantity for each billing item, and valid through the last day (UTC) of the month in which your organization became ready to use. Granted only once per subscription AWS account. |
| Cancellation | Use “Cancel renewal” in billing management. | Use subscription management in AWS Marketplace. |
| Plan changes | Request them with “Change plan” in billing management. | Lorel.ai has no screen for changing plans. |
2. From Subscribing to Getting Started
After you subscribe on AWS Marketplace, you register your organization on the Lorel.ai registration screen. Follow the steps below instead of “2. Create an organization” and “3. Start a contract” in Initial Setup.
Registration is done by someone who can sign in to AWS Marketplace with the subscription AWS account. The person who registers is automatically given the Owner role in the organization.
- Subscribe on the Lorel.ai product page on AWS Marketplace.
- After you subscribe, select “Set up your account” in AWS Marketplace to go to a Lorel.ai screen. If you are already logged in to Lorel.ai, select “Register organization.” If you are not logged in, select “Log in to continue” or “Sign up to continue.” For how to sign up, see User Authentication.
- Check that the “AWS account that made the purchase” shown on the “Register your organization on Lorel.ai” screen is the subscription AWS account (the AWS account you used to subscribe). If a different AWS account is shown, do not register; contact us instead.
- Enter the following items and select “Register organization.”
- Organization name: the name shown on Lorel.ai screens. You can change it later.
- Company name: the official name of the legal entity that holds the contract.
- Company URL: a URL that starts with http:// or https://.
- If “Waiting for contract confirmation” appears, wait on that screen. This usually takes a few minutes.
- When “You’re all set. Welcome to Lorel.ai.” appears, select “Create your first project.”
Creating your first project uses the same screen and steps as “4. Create your first project” in Initial Setup. Inviting members and adding them to projects also works the same way as “5. Invite members to the organization” and “6. Add members to the project” on that page.
If registration does not go through
If one of the following appears during registration, take the action shown.
| What you see on screen | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Your registration has expired” or “Your registration information has expired” | Sign in to AWS Marketplace with the subscription AWS account, select “Set up your account” on the Lorel.ai product page, and start over. If someone else made the purchase, ask that person to do this. |
| “This registration has already been used” | If registration is not complete, sign in to AWS Marketplace with the subscription AWS account, select “Set up your account” on the Lorel.ai product page, and start over. If someone else made the purchase, ask that person to do this. |
| “Contract confirmation hasn’t arrived” | This appears when the contract confirmation screen has been waiting for more than 30 minutes. Check the status of your subscription on AWS Marketplace. If the subscription is active but does not appear in Lorel.ai, contact us. |
| “This subscription is already registered” | If you are a member of the organization, log in to Lorel.ai and use it. If you are not a member, ask an Owner or Manager of the organization to invite you. |
3. Billing and Payments
You check invoices and payment status in the AWS Billing console. “Settings” at the bottom of the sidebar appears only while a project is open. Open a project, open Organization Settings from “Settings,” select “Billing” in the sidebar, and then select “Open AWS Billing console.” The AWS console shows the contents of the AWS account you are signed in with, so sign in with the subscription AWS account. However, if you use consolidated billing in AWS Organizations, sign in with the management account to see invoices. You can also set up budget alerts (an AWS feature) in the same console.
The “Billing” page shows the following.
| Area | What it shows | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription status | The plan name, the “Subscribed via AWS Marketplace” label, and the subscription status (Active, Contract ended, or Confirming) | Owners, Managers, and members with the Billing role |
| Subscription AWS account | The subscription AWS account | Owners, Managers, and members with the Billing role |
| Subscription management | The “Manage your subscriptions” link (it opens the AWS Marketplace console) and the notes about the subscription status | Owners and members with the Billing role |
| Billing and payments | A link to the AWS Billing console | Owners, Managers, and members with the Billing role |
| This month’s usage | Usage for each billing item (see “4. Checking Your Usage”) | Owners and members with the Billing role |
4. Checking Your Usage
On the “Billing” page, “This month’s usage” shows your usage for the current month (a calendar month in UTC). In Japan time, the month changes at 9:00 a.m. on the 1st. Usage is aggregated hourly.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Item | Base fee, AI Agent Executions, Data Ingestion, Data Storage |
| Used | Cumulative usage for the month. For data storage, this is a reference value before the free tier is deducted. |
| Initial free credit (this month only) | The quantity covered by the initial free credit, and the quantity granted. Shown only while the credit is valid. |
| Billable | The quantity that AWS bills you for |
Keep the following in mind.
- Amounts of money are not shown. Check your invoice in AWS for the amount you are charged.
- A ”-” means the hourly aggregation has not been reflected yet. It does not mean zero usage.
- Data storage has a monthly free tier of 10 GB.
- On the AWS invoice, data storage is shown in MiB (1 GB = 1,024 MiB). The 10 GB free tier equals 10,240 MiB.
5. Initial Free Credit
The first time you subscribe through AWS Marketplace, the following initial free credit is granted.
| Billing item | Amount granted |
|---|---|
| Base fee | 1 month |
| AI Agent executions | 300 executions |
| Data ingestion | 8,000,000 records |
| Data storage | 50 GB (applied to usage above the free tier) |
- Your organization becomes ready to use when, after registration, Lorel.ai receives confirmation of your contract. The initial free credit is valid through the last day (UTC) of the month in which your organization became ready to use, even if that happened partway through the month. Any unused amount is not carried over to the next month.
- The initial free credit is granted only once per subscription AWS account. It is not granted again if you subscribe again with the same AWS account after canceling.
- The granted amount is applied to your usage automatically.
The initial free credit for a direct contract is granted as a monetary amount and does not expire (see Plans and Pricing).
6. Canceling and After You Cancel
You cancel from subscription management in AWS Marketplace. Owners and members with the Billing role can select “Manage your subscriptions” on the “Billing” page in Lorel.ai to open the AWS Marketplace console, and go to subscription management from there.
When the contract ends, the organization becomes view-only, and the screen shows “This organization’s contract has ended.” For 30 days after the contract ends, you can view your data on screen. For how long data is kept and when it is deleted, see “Data Handling After Contract Termination” in Data Handling. The explanation of reinstating a contract in that section applies to direct contracts.
If you subscribe again through AWS Marketplace after canceling, a new organization is registered. The data and settings of the previous organization are not carried over to the new one, and the initial free credit is not granted again.
Limitations
- One subscription can be registered to only one organization.
- The subscription status shows “Confirming” while the contract information from AWS has not yet reached Lorel.ai. It can take a few minutes to be reflected.
- Cost alerts are not available.
